About Us

Step Ahead is owned and operated by Southern California native Eric Ziegler, P.T. and Eric graduated with honors from the California State University, Northridge Physical Therapy program in 1991.

Eric Ziegler, P.T. is a Burbank native, having attended Burroughs High School. He enjoys working with the pediatric and adolescent population for sports specific training. He also works with adults in post-op rehabilitation programs. In his time away from being a Physical Therapist, Eric and his wife Gina, enjoy raising their three children. He is an avid water and snow skier.

Our Staff

Step Ahead Physical Therapy is pleased and proud to have on staff working with our patients:     Nicole Weithaas Scott, M.P.T., Don Cocozza, P.T. and Alma Tanigawa, Administrative Assistant.

Don Cocozza, P.T. graduated from East Carolina University in 1997.  His interests in Physical Therapy range from sports specific training, ergonomics and rehabilitation of the shoulder and knee. 
He moved from New Jersey to enjoy the California lifestyle of surfing and golfing.  Along with his friends, they make yearly treks to enjoy the Central America sunshine and waves. 

Nicole Weithaas Scott, M.P.T. graduated from Nova Southeastern University in 2001. She shares a common interest with Eric and Don in the rehabilitation of orthopedic injuries and conditions. Nicole was the State of Florida gymnastics champion in 1986 and her records still stand! She enjoys spending time with her husband, Jonathan, and their dog Boomer. Golfing, swimming, hiking and socializing with friends occupies their time on weekends.

Alma Tanigawa, Administrative Assistant is a Burbank native and attended Burroughs High School.  Alma has enjoyed working with patients in the medical field for over ten years.   Alma’s expertise in the insurance field and outstanding customer service are part of the personal approach Step Ahead is known for in the community.
Alma and her husband enjoy raising their two children.   Together, they enjoy weekend and day trips in the Southern California area.
